CLOTHES MAKE THE … CHIROPRACTOR?
A recent study by Leduc in January 2025 closed
the paper with what we chiropractors wear influences
our patients’ perception of us, including your Vancouver chiropractor at Vancouver Disc Centers. Good to know!
Scrubs make us look more knowledgeable, trustworthy, competent,
professional and comfortable. White coats and formal wear came second overall. For women chiropractors, the white coat was more positive
for them than when worn by men. (1) Curiously,
this issue of clothes does not just concern chiropractors. A study
of patient perception of surgeons based on their clothing in Saudi
Arabia noted that scrubs and white coats were preferred by patients for hygiene
as well as the image of expertise and dedication. (2) Beyond
their attire, chiropractors are working to hone their professional
identity to better interact other healthcare colleagues who – according to
other articles like the surgeon attire article – also work to refine
their image and identity for their patients and collegial interactions. (3) One
paper boldly resolved that “although the chiropractic
profession may debate internally about its professional identity, the
chiropractic identity seems to have already been established by society,
practice, legislation, and education as a profession of health care providers
whose area of expertise is spine care.” (4) Beginning with spine
care works for Vancouver Disc Centers! We know
through experience that spine pain relief leads to our patients’ trusting us
with other health issues. Bring on your Vancouver back pain and
neck pain! We’ll wear our best scrubs, clothes and/or white coats!
Together, let’s, you and Vancouver Disc Centers, work on getting you feeling better!
