YOUR INFLUENCE ON BACK PAIN RELIEF IS STRONG
An upbeat mindset, sound
self-care, and pain-lessening treatment is a beneficial
mix for spine pain relief. Chiropractic mingles
them all! A study that observed 740 chronic low back pain
patients for a year documented that those who continued with
their pain relief and reported an improved quality of
life were also highly confident that they could
still participate in activities despite
their pain. Those who experienced widespread pain and imagined their
pain as horrible and from which they would not
get over reduced their recovery outcome. Understanding
these issues, researchers and your Vancouver chiropractor
get that realistic expectations must be discussed and
appreciated for optimal, satisfactory clinical outcomes. (1) (For
example, 50% relief is good!) Complicating factors like poor sleep,
fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression may affect healing for
back pain and neck pain sufferers and must be addressed. We listen
carefully to and have discussions with our chiropractic patients
to manage issues as we move toward pain relief and a
better quality of life. We follow and disclose the 50% Rule of the
Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management that establishes
reasonable expectations for chiropractic pain relief: 50% relief within a month
or so of care without any signs of progressive neurological deficits or other
red flags is encouraging improvement. Additional
good news arises from a scoping review of papers about
spine-pain related factors that took note of how many issues
are modifiable: smoking, overweight/obesity, negative expectations
of recovery, work environment, nutrition, etc. (2) That is where we
act together to keep you
positive and confident and form a solid
Vancouver chiropractic treatment plan for your pain relief!

Vancouver CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:
Consider Inflammation: An Ear Infection/Hearing
Loss/Hip Fracture Risk Link
A new study evaluated those with
chronic otitis media to those without. Researchers questioned if
chronic otitis media inflammation impacted the body beyond hearing. They found that those with
chronic otitis media with a history of hearing loss are more susceptible
to a higher risk of hip fracture. (3) Another study stated
that chronic otitis media was found to be significantly associated with a greater risk of developing ‘sudden sensorineural hearing
loss’ that comes on suddenly over a 3 day period.
This is commonly associated with dizziness and
ringing in the ears, medicated with antibiotics, and accommodated
for with hearing aids or devices for any lasting hearing loss. (4,5)
We know inflammation is an enemy in managing Vancouver back pain and neck pain, and it is seemingly an enemy
of ear pain and heightened hip fracture risk, too! Manage hearing issues and inflammation as they arise.
