Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be upsetting,
but it can also alter balance and lead to falls.
Dizziness with related cervical spine disc degeneration can be
a problem for folks of an older age. Vancouver Disc Centers shares
new research about chronic neck pain and its relationship
to dizziness as well as the role Vancouver chiropractic care plays
in neck pain relief and oftentimes
related dizziness.
CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS
Patients with chronic neck pain due
to cervical degenerative disease often experience dizziness as well
as neck pain. Many already-published studies, both clinical and
basic science, detail the connection of cervical
disc degeneration and dizziness. A recent study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was diagnosed in 89% of such patients. Improper neck postures
over long periods of time may contribute
when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have separate
triggers for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and
weeding may initiate general dizziness, particularly
in older women. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new
surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain pointed out
that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly suggested
that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness arose from degenerated
cervical spine discs. The dizziness ensued with only
cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy.
(2) Such degenerative disc disease
in the neck also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, particularly
inflammatory cytokines that trigger mechanoreceptors like the
Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs resulting in
dizziness. The good news: a majority of cervical spine disc disease patients and associated dizziness find conservative treatment to be
effective for them. (3) Vancouver Disc Centers is the home for
conservative chiropractic care of Vancouver neck pain and degenerated
cervical discs.
CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR
DIZZINESS
An Australian study of chiropractic care
of neck pain patients who also experienced dizziness revealed
that chiropractic is frequently used by these
patients to handle their neck pain. One in five people over age 70
years experienced neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors reported
that the neck pain and associated dizziness was moderately
responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Vancouver Disc Centers uses
the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration
and its related Vancouver neck pain.
